Why Accidents Happen ?

Why Accidents Happen?

Aircraft accidents and incidents can happen to anyone, even the most experienced pilots.

So, statistics often point to pilot error as a leading factor.

However, it’s important to understand that this doesn’t mean pilots are solely to blame.

So, external factors, operational pressure, environment, and system failures also play a role.

The reality is simple: we are human, and humans are not perfect.

Studies in Human Factors show that human performance is involved in the majority of aviation accidents. Not because of lack of skill alone, but often due to:

1.Distractions.

2.Overconfidence.

3.Lack of situational awareness.

4.Inadequate decision-making.

Experience does not make you never going to fail.

In fact, many accidents involve highly experienced pilots.

As a pilot an aviation accident investigator, I’ve learned that while we can learn from others’ mistakes, too often we do not repeat them same errors.

So, that’s why good judgment is everything.

Good judgment is the ability to make the right decision at the right time ensuring the safest possible outcome of every flight.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about flying.

It’s about returning home safely to the people who are waiting for us. Our family.

Through my safety blog at CRM 4 Pilots Aviation Consulting Inc, I share insights to help pilots stay alert, informed, and prepared always.

I don’t post on my pages on the media for likes.

I post my articles, to promote safety and prevent accidents.

Always Fly Safely !
